Our team of specialist cardiac surgeons and cardiac anesthesiologists are delivering exceptionally high quality of tertiary care in the sub specialty of Cardiothoracic surgery.

We are pioneers in setting up the first professionally run Cardiothoracic surgical center in North coastal Andhra Pradesh. The first coronary bypass procedure was performed at Apollo Heart Institute, Visakhapatnam in 1999. In addition to routine valve replacement procedures several complex congenital repairs such as arterial switch procedure, ALCAPA repair were performed successfully. To date over above 3,100 procedures were performed with a success rate of nearing 99%.

The team is currently led by Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr.P.V.Naresh Kumar,MS.MCh. He is ably assisted by Dr. C.Sai Krishna, MCh., Junior Consultant CTVS. Anaesthetic support and intensive care backup are provided by Dr. V.Ramesh Babu, MD. Chief Cardiac Anesthesiologist and Dr. K. Ram Mohan, Cardiac Anesthesiologist. Mr. S.K.Satpathy is our Chief perfusionist.

The team has performed procedures since October 2004with a success rate of over 99%. The main impetus is on off pump coronary revascularization and 90% of all CABGs performed at this center are done on beating heart. In addition single and double valve replacement procedures and valve repairs complete the spectrum of adult cardiac surgical procedures.

Peripheral vascular surgical procedures performed include aorto-bifemoral bypass, ilio-femoral and femoro-popliteal bypass procedures, aneurysm repairs.

Our team has carried out both complete corrections and palliative procedures  for various congenital cardiac malformations in the recent time.
