Dr. P.V. NARESH KUMAR

Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon, graduated from MKCG Medical College, Berhampur, MS (General Surgery) from LTM Medical College, Mumbai and M.Ch (CTVS) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1997. He worked at prestigious institutes like All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Bangalore and JN Medical College (KLE Heart Foundation), Belgaum.

Dr. Naresh Kumar has worked with some renowned and eminent doctors of the field like Prof  P.Venugopal, Prof Sampath Kumar, Prof Balaram Airam, Dr. Rajesh Sharma and Dr. Anil Bhan at AIIMS and Dr. Sekhar Rao & Dr. M.D.Dixit at JNMC, Belgaum which provided him tremendous experience in field of coronary revascularisation for high risk CABG and beating heart CABG.

His primary area of interest is off pump coronary revascularization including off pump endarterectomy for diffusely diseased coronary arteries. High risk procedures carried out included emergency CABG, post MI VSD repair. He is proficient in mitral and tricuspid valve repair and has succesfully carrried out replacement procedures for the mitral and aortic valves . He has also carried out surgical correction of simple congenital heart defects such as closure of atrial septal defects and ligation of patent ductus arteriosus. Complex pediatric cardiac surgical lesions that were successfully corrected include complete AV Canal defects; Ebstein anomaly;Ventricular septal defects with severe pulmonary arterial hypertension; Supracardiac and mixed TAPVC and  tetralogy of Fallot. Univentricular procedures carried out include Blalock-Taussig shunts, bidirectional Glenn shunts and the Fontan Operation. He performed various corrective procedures for aortic Aneurysms & aortic dissection and has had experience in cardiac Transplantation and left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation.

Dr. SAI KRISHNA CHEEMALAPATI , MS , MCh (CTVS)

Dr. Sai Krishna is an associate consultant in the department of Cardiothoracic Surgery. An alumnus of Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam he completed residency training in general surgery from the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research(PGIMER) Chandigarh. following which he worked as a clinical registrar in the Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. He completed his MCh training in cardiothoracic & vascular surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi in January 2005.

Having graduated with honors he was awarded the V.K.Narayana Menon & V. Venkata Rao memorial awards for academic excellence during undergraduation. He was the recipient of the Institute Bronze medal in the year 2001 for academic excellence in MS General Surgery examination at PGIMER, Chandigarh. Dr. Sai Krishna Cheemalapati is working with us since May 2005. He has a keen interest in off pump coronary revascularization, valve repair techniques, chordal preservation during mitral valve replacement and corrective surgery for cyanotic congenital heart disease, uni-ventricular heart repair and peripheral vascular surgery. He has several scientific publications in internationally acclaimed journals to his credit.

Dr. T. RAVI RAJU, M.D., D.M.,  
Chief Nephrologist, has graduated from AMC, Visakhapatnam and is heading the Department of Nephrology, KGH, Vizag. 

He has over 15 years of experience in treatment of kidney diseases, Dialysis and Renal Transplant. Dr. Ravi Raju has so far performed over Renal Transplants.

Dr. D. K. BARUAH, M.D., D.M., (Cardiology), FICC
Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Invasive Cardiology. He has done his MBBS and MD (General Medicine) from Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh University and DM (Cardiology) from Christian Medical College, MGR Medical University, Chennai. 

He has work experience at JIPMER - Pondicherry, CMC - Vellore, Citi Cardiac Research Center, Vijayawada and has been associated for 4 years with the surgical team here.

Dr. PANIGRAHI, MD., DM., FICC.
Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, graduated from Sambalpur University and completed MD., DM (Cardiology) from Utkal University, Orissa. He received honours in MBBS and six gold medals. 

Dr. Panigrahi worked at the Department of Medicine and Cardiology, Medical College of Orissa and as Senior Research Fellow, CSIR. He was trained as Fellow, Interventional Cardiology at Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad. He was awarded a Fellowship by the Indian College of Cardiology.

Dr. RAMESH BABU VEDANGI, M.D., Chief Cardiac Anaesthesiologist, graduated from Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada has worked as Resident in Plastic Surgery Dept with Dr. G.V. Sudhakar, Plastic Surgeon at CDR Hospital Hyderguda. Later did his M.D. in Anaesthesiology at Gandhi Medical College from 1998-2001 under the guidance of Prof. Aruna Subhash and Prof. P.R.Vijaya Lakshmi.

1. Hypersensitivity reaction to plastics used in intravenous sets - A case report. Presented at Indian Society of Anesthesiologists annual state conference 2000, at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

2. Undiagnosed Phaeochromocytoma for surgery as lump abdomen - A case report. Presented at Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists annual state conference 2000, at Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

While working in Usha Mullapudi Cardiac Centre, he has gained experience in conduct of adult cardiac cases, majority of which are multiple coronary bypass, single and double valve replacement, combined valve and coronary, carotid and coronary bypass procedures and aortic aneurysms including root replacement, abdominal aortic surgeries, peripheral vascular surgeries and limited number of lung and mediastinal surgeries and few congenital cardiac cases. A total of 275 operations were recorded under his name. Later he became Chief Cardiac Anaesthesiologist of Seven Hills Hospitals, Visakhapatnam, where his work place was mainly the cardiac operation theaters, cardiac post operative ICU, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit. He has managed all ventilator patients in ICCU independently with good results. He has gained good experience in providing cardiac surgical intensive care unit services involving postoperative critical management, ventilatory management including weaning and extubation, insertion and removal of intra aortic balloon, management of inotropes and their withdrawal, supervision and conduct of cardiac resuscitation. Cardiac medical intensive care unit involves similar services and also includes pacemaker insertions, supervision and management of thrombolysis, acute management of arrhythmias in myocardial infarctions, Monitored Anaesthesia Care (MAC) services for interventions in Cardiac Catheterization Labs, and Emergency department services including emergency airway management and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Dr. Ramesh Babu is the Chief Cardiac Anaesthetist and heads the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at Apollo Hospitals, Visakhapatnam since October 2005

Dr. K. RAM MOHAN, MBBS, DA., PDCC.
Graduated from Ai-Ameen Medical College, Bijapur, Karnataka University in the year 1997. Obtained his Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) in the year 2003 from JNMC, Belgaum, Karnataka . PDCC (2004- 2005) from K.L.E. Heart foundation which is a premier Institute in Karnataka. His work experience includes Registrarship in Cardiac Anaesthesia in K.L.E. Heart foundation from February 2004 – January 2005 under guidance of Dr. Dhulked, MD. Aaensthesia and C.T.Surgeon Dr.M.D. Dixit,MS., MCh.(CTVS). He has also worked as the in-charge anaesthetist in the area hospital Nuzividu from June 2003 – Sep. 2003, and as a Registrar in the Yashoda Group fof Hospitals, Hyderabad for a period of 6 months under Dr. Shivaprasad, MD. Anaesthesia.

He worked as Junior Consultant in Image hospitals, Hyderabad from Feb 2005 to October 2005, with independent charge of the perioperative care of patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures.

He has good experience in peri-operative management of patients undergoing CABG both on pump and off pump and CABG with fibrillatory arrest, emergency CABG. open heart surgeries like double valve replacement, aortic valve replacement and mitral valve replacement. He has had experience in theintra-operative and post-operative care of various congenital cardiac malformations such as Tetralogy of Fallot, TAPVC, TGA, ASD, VSD, PDA, AV canal defect.

He is associated with the Cardiothoracic Surgical team and works as a Specialist Registrar in the Department of Anaesthesia at Apollo Heart Institute, Visakhapatnam since August 2005
